The Haslam Memorial Foundation was created in memory of Richard Haslam, one of the first members of Fox Hopyard Golf Club and a member of its Men’s Club. He lovingly served his community, and we continue to do so in his memory.
During his time in East Haddam, CT, Mr. Haslam developed many youth service activities and encouraged the town to create a youth services bureau. He coached numerous sporting teams, his favorite being baseball for the East Haddam-Moodus Little League.
Mr. Haslam was a stand-out athlete in baseball, basketball, and soccer. He had the option of becoming a professional baseball player and a professional bowler in the late 1960s. Everyone who knew him recognized his commitment to the community as well as to his family and friends.
