The East Haddam Food Bank recently received a generous gift from the Haslam Memorial Foundation: a brand-new freezer that will help the food bank store and distribute nutritious food to families in need.
The Haslam Memorial Foundation, established in memory of Dick Haslam’s legacy of service to the Town of East Haddam, supports local programs that strengthen the town and improve quality of life for children and their families. The East Haddam Food Bank continues to serve dozens of families each week, providing essential groceries and household items.
Food Bank Manager Lori Olson expressed deep gratitude for the donation, noting the immediate impact it will have. “This freezer is going to make such a difference for us,” Olson said. “We needed a more reliable freezer to store our meat, frozen vegetables, and other items. With this addition, we can accept and preserve more of these healthy items without worry the freezer may fail to operate.”
